Bedroom Refresh

I’ve been wanting to update our bedroom for quite some time, however I keep putting it on the back burner. My reasoning being that there’s always something else that needs more attention. When we moved in just over four years ago we painted our entire upstairs (kitchen, living room, kids room, bathroom) except we didn’t paint our room. At the time my excuse was that the colour wasn’t so bad and we could live with it. Everything else was a higher priority, especially with a baby on the way at the time. Then a couple of summers ago I got the majority of our downstairs painted and put together and here we are, I still haven’t done anything in our room.

Not to mention, we’ve also been sharing our room with babies so we’ve had bassinets, a change station, etc. in our room as well. The past few weeks I’ve been trying to reclaim our space and I’ve been packing up the baby station in our room so I feel it’s finally time to begin a refresh.

This is a little project that I’ll chip away at over the next while and ideally these are things that I’d like to see happen. Here’s a look at what I’ve been scheming:

Paint - We definitely need to paint & this will probably be the first thing to happen. I’m planning to go with white. I really like the white we used when we painted our downstairs, Alabaster by Sherwin Williams, so I think I’ll go with that for our room too.

Bedding - New sheets & bedding to help lighten up the space.

Curtains - The current ones are brown and need to go. They are great because they are blackout, however, I’m not loving the colour.

Side Tables - I’m either going to paint the ones we have or if I can find some for a good deal perhaps we’ll switch them up! I really like the idea of something whitewashed or natural wood. So we’ll see. I’m also hoping to paint the dresser we currently have.

Art - We currently have nothing on the walls in our room. So it’s for sure time we remedy that.

Light Fixture - I’d like to swap out the light for something else (although, we’ll see what I think of the one we have ones things change up a bit). New lamps or sconces with the “magic light trick” would also be a nice addition. If you don’t know what the “magic light trick” is head over here.

Bed - This is the larger swap (or, I suppose, addition) and it’ll probably be the last thing on the to-do list. We have never actually had a head board, so it’s really something I’d like to get. I’ve got my eye on the specific ones above, so I’m on the hunt and looking for deals. We’ll see what I can come up with!

Here’s hoping I at least get the painting done before the end of summer!

Also, I’d like to know. When it comes to priority in your home, is the primary bedroom usually last on the list??
