Spring Clean Your Make-Up & Skincare Products

Who is ready for spring cleaning?! I am very much ready to tackle some tasks around the house that I’ve been neglecting. There are some things that are in need good deep clean & some definite purging that needs to happen. Today I’m popping in to remind you to spring clean your skincare products & make-up! We often overlook this task (at least I do!), I finally just tackled this area the other week. It felt good to purge and clean up the bathroom drawer where I keep the majority of my make-up & skincare products.

Get started:

  1. Clear out and empty your make-up bag or drawer where you keep your products.

  2. Give your make-up drawer/bag a good thorough wipe down.

  3. Go through all your skincare & make-up products. Be sure to trash anything expired or anything you don’t use. No need to have it take up space!

  4. Wash those make-up brushes!

  5. Put everything back neat & tidy and organize accordingly. Grab some drawer organizers if needed!

  6. Make a note of anything you may need to replenish.

This is a relatively small spring cleaning task compared to some & it will feel so nice to get it done! Plus, if you haven’t started any spring cleaning it will help get the ball rolling for other tasks (at least that’s the hope! Ha!).

Making clean choices takes baby steps & intention.

I grabbed a few organizing pieces from the dollar store for inside my drawer. I also grabbed a cute little bamboo tray for my skincare products that I use on the daily & now they are neatly corralled on the bathroom counter. Makes things much neater and more accessible.

Another way you can spring clean your make-up & skincare products is by swapping out your current products for ones with cleaner ingredients. This is something I have been working on for the past year. I shared a little bit about it in this post. I know the everyday products we use can affect us more than we realize and the amount of ingredients and different chemicals we put on our skin (via all these different products) is surprising, not to mention a bit alarming! Am I perfect at this? No. But I do believe little bits here and there make a difference and we all have to start somewhere.

It can be a bit overwhelming when you start. I know for me it was. I didn’t know where to start, I just knew that I wanted to trade out some of the products I had been using for ones with better and cleaner ingredients and ones that used less chemicals. I started using Beautycounter and genuinely have loved all the products I’ve tried. Plus, their mission to get cleaner and safer beauty into the hands of all is one that I can get on board with!

If this is an area you’re wanting to work away at cleaning up I’d love to help! Pick one item (or a few!) that you want to start with. Maybe your face cleanser & moisturizer? A weekly mask or daily serum that will help troubleshoot some of those skincare problems you’ve been having? Or maybe you want to slowly start swapping out your make-up? It doesn’t have to be everything all at once, a little at a time (over time) will add up!
