Homemade Apple Crumble
It’s fall and what better way to start the season off than making apple crumble?? We went apple picking last week & of course I had to make an apple crumble ASAP! Confession, I’ve already made it twice.
Here’s the recipe of the one I grew up on (thanks, mom!). It’s easy and delish!
Apple Crumble
Start by peeling and slicing your apples into a shallow dish. I use a glass 8x8 pan. Don’t fill quite to the top.
In a separate bowl, mix together: 1 cup of flour, 1/3 cup of cold butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar. This is your crumble topping. Set aside.
Sprinkle your apples with granulated sugar (approx. 1/2 - 3/4 cup) and some nutmeg/cinnamon. Sometimes I use epicure apple pie spice!
Cover apples with the flour mixture & sprinkle with a little more spice if desired.
Bake at 350 until apples are cooked (soft) and crumble top is golden brown!
*Goes good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, or a splash of milk! Or enjoy as is! If eating leftovers the next day, I always like to warm it up slightly in the microwave.
