5 Books to Start off Your New Year

One of my goals for this year is to read more. It was a goal that I had last year as well. I’m happy to say that in 2021 I read more than I had the pervious year (I should really say YEARS), and this year I’m hoping to do even more reading. I’m going to try my best to share the books I read along the way (make sure you’re following along on Instagram).

If you’re looking to read more this year as well, I thought I’d share a few books I’ve read in the past that you may want to start your year off reading. These books are all really great and, in a way, they fall under all the categories of the usual “new year” ambitions. I’ve found them helpful and thought you might too!

Cozy Minimalist Home by Myquillyn Smith (aka The Nester) - If one of your goals to start the year off is to purge and declutter this is a great book. She walks you through the process of “quieting your home” and getting rid of the idea that cozy means “cluttered”.

Rhythms of Renewal by Rebekah Lyons - I read this book at the beginning of 2021 and I really loved it. Rebekah has also come out with a guided journal to go along with the book - I haven’t used it but I’m sure it’s helpful! I’ve been skimming back through this book at the beginning of this year just to give myself some reminders of healthy rhythms I am wanting to continue working on. 10/10 would recommend.

Grace Not Perfection & When Less Becomes More by Emily Ley - I loved both of these books! They are easy reads and get right to the heart of simplifying, choosing to slow down & focusing on ways to live with more joy and contentment.

“Sometimes, when we’re not looking

for what we want, we find what we need”.
- Erin Loechner

Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner - I read this book a couple of summers ago and it was so great. Erin shares about her journey of how she goes from chasing more to chasing less. I found it extremely intriguing & inspiring and loved her honesty. She gives lots of thoughts and ways on how we can slow things down. I think it’s definitely worth the read.

Have you read any of these? What book (or books) would you recommend someone start off the new year with? These are some that stood out for me to share, I’d love to hear what ones you’d choose!
